In Polynesian culture, tattoos have long been considered signs of beauty; they were ceremoniously applied when a child reached adolescence. Qube researched patterns found in Polynesian arts and crafts to derive motifs that captured the essence of this unique heritage. We contrasted printed motifs in dark ink with light-coloured, wood-textured papers to impart a sense of Polynesian aesthetics.
